consequences

Consequences of Bullying

There are some extremely serious consequences that can occur during a physical bully and his victim.

The aggressor has a few ways of intimidating the victim:

The consequences for the victim range from minor injuries to severe injuries and in the worst case scenario, death.

In addition to theses injuries, the victim can sustain mental damage. Over time, according to studies, the victim have more anxiety, sadness, sleep difficulties, low self-esteem, headaches and stomach pain.

The bully, most likely in the future, will get involved in harmful activities such as street fights. It is shown that most bullies will have a tendency to skip school, carry a weapon and get involved with drugs and alcohol. By the age of 24, 60% of bullies will have been convicted of at least one crime.

As for the witnesses, while watching the action happening, they suffer from frustration, fear, low self-esteem and a loss of control. In most cases, they will feel an immense amount of guilt because they cannot ''save'' the victim.

Here is a video of a girl that regrets not helping victims of bullying and her point of view on the subject. Although, this does not apply to physical bullying, but rather social bullying the consequences on the witness is very similar.
